PUBLIC POLICIES FOCUSED ON FAMILY FARMING

Abstract

In Brazil, family farming is a prominent segment of the national economy.  The great challenge is to make it economically and environmentally sustainable.  This article aims to discuss public policies focused on family farming, as well as their specificities.  Initially, theoretical aspects of these public policies will be addressed  and federal  laws and programs will be highlighted below, as well as municipal laws regulating this economic activity. It was concluded that there are several laws and programs fundamental to implementation in Brazil. It is concluded that in recent years, there is a lack of investments in existing programs, so that with the pandemic, the situation of small farmers has once again been a topic of concern, since such policies are fundamental for the permanence of small landowners in the countryside.
