DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND QUARANTINE: UNDERREPORTING IN TIMES OF PANDEMIC
Abstract
This article brings up a discussion about domestic and family violence against women, which, as a result of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, has had an exponential increase, but which may have even higher numbers, due to the underreporting of cases caused by the difficulties encountered. by victims to report and record incidents. It is known that this type of violence is a structural problem and in this article we will discuss the aggravating and explanatory factors, from gender and patriarchy studies to the period of pandemic and isolation that we are going through. In order to do so, some historical and bibliographic aspects of male domination and gender violence will be reviewed, trying to explain how this type of violence is reproduced and culturally expressed through repeated and thoughtless behaviors that are transmitted in all areas of society and that contribute directly to male oppression of the female gender and misogyny.
