STRENGTHENING INCLUSIVE HEALTH SYSTEMS: THE ROLE OF THE PSYCHOSOCIAL CARE NETWORK IN SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER IN BRAZIL
Abstract
This article addresses the organization and effectiveness of the Psychosocial Care Network within Brazil's Unified Health System, with a special focus on practices and interventions for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Using the narrative literature review methodology on documents produced by the Ministry of Health, we compiled and synthesized scientific evidence, public policies, and guidelines related to care in psychosocial care networks. The study examines the various services offered by the Psychosocial Care Network, including primary care, strategic psychosocial care, psychosocial rehabilitation, emergency and urgent care, hospital care, and deinstitutionalization. Additionally, we highlight the importance of a comprehensive and intersectoral approach in attending to individuals with the disorder, emphasizing the need for continuous family support and early interventions. We analyze the responsibilities of the Psychosocial Care Centers and Specialized Rehabilitation Centers, as well as the regulations developed to enhance comprehensive care for this population. The study underscores the importance of comprehensiveness, humanization, and intersectionality in care, promoting active participation and autonomy of individuals.
